I have a date this summer. July to be precise. And I’m prepping so who’s gonna prep along with me? *-*  I love foot massages. And when you love your feet being touched, its almost mandatory that you keep them touchably smooth. But this doesn’t have to mean a trip for a pedicure every month! Its time for you to open your cupboards and lets DIY!

I remember seeing this foot soak posted in the local natural hair group I’m a part of on Facebook. [Side note – I freakin’ love this group!] This foot soak claimed the following:

Ideal to help with those crusty feet! Get it right ladies!! …the BEST way to get your feet ready for summer. Sounds crazy but it works! Soak feet for 10 minutes – the dead skin will practically wipe off!

Now everyone knows I’m a lover of anything DIY so off I went to grab the two ingredients already in my house and tried this out!

Here is what you will need:

1 cup listerine [any generic brand will do]

1 cup white vinegar [may use apple cidar if preferred]
2 cups warm water [as warm as your feet can manage]

Pour all the ingredients into a shallow bath and soak feet for 15 – 20 minutes. Watch a series or pick up a book and just relax while your feet soak.

After removing feet from the soak, you may need to use a stone or foot file to get off the dead skin that may not have “wiped right off” :-/

Dry your feet then massage them with a little bit of olive oil and viola – beautiful feet for the summer!

Basically, vinegar is an acid that changes the ph of things. Listerine (or any similar knock off) contributes eucalyptus, menthol and a salicylate to the mix and together with vinegar creates a liquid pleasure.

This DIY cocktail not only cleans and disinfects, but breaks the protein bonds that hold dead skin cells together and as a result the toughest calluses are easily buffed away.

Have you tried this? Tell us your tale!
