I thought an Island girl would use natural products as coconut oil, JBCO, avocado shampoo and on. Why did you choose to go for “industrial” products instead of home-made/local-made ?
Good question. Firstly, a lot of natural raw items are either not available locally or super expensive. Second, there are only so much DIY a person can handle. Making your own products takes time, effort and you still have to find the items to make them. Then making something that can only last for one use is not super motivating. I applaud all those who do.
At the beginning of my journey I did try quite a few things like Honey Shampoo, DIY hair mists etc. I was most successful making my own DIY deep conditioners and still do those.
As it pertains to oils, oils are not moisturizers. They are sealants and thin hair doesn’t require a super abundance of oil use so I stick to what I know works best for my hair.
After 2 years natural and trying many different things with my hair, I now follow KISS – keep it simple sista 🙂
